Thirteen

Not much to say on the medical front since the 9/18 report that the treatment is working extremely well. My third session is Tuesday, 10/9 and if things are as they seemed to be, I’ll get a PET scan soon after to see what the nodes in my chest look like.

In the meantime, on a personal front – couldn’t be prouder of Sadie for the hard work (and resultant payoff) on the CMS volleyball team. I’ll never forget the image of her smile looking into the stands after their game on the 18th. She played a lot, she played well and she was deservedly proud. She flashed her dad’s grin when we locked eyes afterwards. Best birthday present ever! (ok, maybe tied with the oncologist’s report that day)

Speaking of treatment, it was fun to celebrate the Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded last week. How often does the Nobel touch you personally?! Weirdly fun to read the paper that morning.

This is a pic from the Nobel Museum in Oslo. When you stand in front of any past recipient’s iPad, a chime sounds and the photo turns to text so you can read about why they won the Peace Prize. As there are people constantly moving around the room, the chimes create a symphony of sorts. (Henry Kissinger’s text was empty – regret on the committee’s part?)

On the local front, the Bike/Ped Master plan was ‘accepted’ by the Mayor and Commission on Tuesday night. While I’d like to have been at the meeting, I got to see David Byrne at the Fox instead. Excellent trade-off.

More later. In the meantime, it’s more important than ever to remember that
Every person you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
Be kind.

Everytime I read your ending, I smile. Such a good sign-off message.
